Introduction
The bureau was formed in 1916 and has a member base of 25, who are all
in broad acre primary production. The primary enterprise of most members
is grain production, with cattle, sheep and pigs also in some businesses.
Meetings
The bureau has 10 meetings a year with a seeding break in May and a harvest
break in December. The meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the
month at 7.30 PM, usually in the Loxton research centre facility.
The meetings begin with general business and correspondence with a guest
speaker following and finishing with a light supper . The speakers usually
have an agricultural theme but on some occasions we have other topical
speakers of interest.
A close association with PIRSA helps keep the bureau members up with the
latest Research and development issues as well as agronomic solutions
to the many challengers faced by the broad acre farming business. Several
of the meetings throughout the year are of a social nature, including
partners and family of the members.
The A.G.M is held in July. New members are encouraged and welcome to attend
meetings and be part of what is an interesting and beneficial part of
farming life.
